I had to make another character for our project, Because the story is about the gargoyle finding itself in the princess bedroom because her soul is in the creature. I had to design her so that she was a corps in her rocking chair awaiting her prince to come and find her. I found this a challenge since I found modelling characters a bit hard, but after modelling my funiture in Maya and I starting using more of the tool bars, it helped me to develop my character with no problems and made me more confident in Maya. I found that I really enjoy modelling and want to have a job in it in the near future. Below shows the image of the princess I have just modeled in Maya8 in her rocking chair as she will be since though the enviroment project.
I have designed a tall mirror and a dressing board for the princess room, I did keep to my design and managed to produce it in Maya8. I found that out off all the objects I had to build was easier.
This is my design of the princess wardrobe, I've changed a few things to make it more interesting than my drawing design. I decided to not have legs at the bottom of my wardrobe because there would be to much decoration on the wardrobe. I have also exended the top design of the wadrobe to give it more of a girl appeal.
Final story board for my section of the story. The whole group have done all the story boards together and put them on our group blog but we had to do an individual story board for out part of the environment scene.
Mine is the princess scene, where Chester the Gargoyle walks into her bedroom (her soul is in the gargoyle) and you see a pan of the room, Chester walks in and over to the princess chair. He reaches out to touch her shoulder and in that slipt second before impact he turns to dust.
I started of by trying to use my drawing designs shown on my blog of what I thought would look good and see if my design would work in Maya8. I decided that both the bed and dressing table worked well and I was able to do my designs in Maya. I have changed a few things on the designs so their not the same as my drawings, it is because I was thinking simple designs but as I got more confident with building the furniture in Maya, I began to experiment more and came up with a better design shown below.
My group had an idea of the gargoyle traveling up the wall to one of the bedrooms, when I went to blue water I found this statue, which i found related to our project.
I started thinking of ways i can delay my furniture in the corners of my bedroom: I found that this worked as a design idea. I think I'll start of my modelling the furniture and then see if it will fit in my bedroom and doesn't look crowed.
I chose these ideas because they come across as old fashioned and princess style. I tried to make things simple by only making these six objects because it shows a women bedroom and the fact that the Gargoyle will be only interacting with the chair and it seemed pointless to make loads of furniture.
I designed these windows using inks and PVA glue. I took the design of an artist that had used art work to make a stain glass windows with hidden images.
I begun looking at different style items for the objects in my bedroom.
bed
chair
dressing table
wardrobe and draws
mirror
dressing board
stain glass windows
I took images of the computer while designing my own ideas next to the images: Looking at these different picture designs I chose the ones I found looked better together so they look like that they belong in a room together, I didn't want different furniture that didn't connect. I found that the bed should be a four poster since most royals had that type of style in there bedrooms, also centuries ago they all did have long mirrors and dressing boards along with dressing tables. The wardrobe I tried to have it look old fashioned and similar to the dressing table. The reason for not colouring in the object is because I will be adding textures in my blog later for what texture I want. If I do use colours it will be red, gold, white and brown.
I looked at this artist because he inspired my work, with his tall emotional appealing buildings. Above I have also chosen some of my favorite Images that Hugh Ferris has designed and put into my blog. I think the way he has done the building in a city that the building over looks the whole scene with its colour and texture gives it a sense of mood of the enviroment.
